What do automatic gears P, R, N, D, L1, L2, S, M represent?
P (parking gear)
When parking, shift the gear to P, lock the rotating part with mechanical device, lock the output shaft through the parking brake device inside the transmission, and tighten the hand brake to prevent the car from moving. Only when the car is completely stopped can you switch to P gear. In addition, most automatic transmission models can only be ignited in P or N gear, which can prevent the car from suddenly starting due to the wrong gear.
R (reverse gear)
R gear is very understandable. It is used when reversing. Generally, car models are equipped with a safety button. When the car is not started, you need to press the safety device to switch to gear R. When driving, gear R cannot be switched.
N (neutral gear)
When waiting for traffic lights or on congested roads and stopping for a long time, it is better to switch to N position and tighten the hand brake at the same time. The main reason is that braking for a long time in gear D will increase the transmission oil temperature, which is easy to deteriorate the oil. However, it should be noted that some people think that shifting to N gear when driving at high speed or downhill will help to save fuel. In fact, it is very easy to damage the transmission, and it is also very dangerous.
D gear (forward gear)
D gear is used for general road driving and is determined according to the size of the accelerator and the speed. When the driver deeply or sharply steps on the accelerator, the transmission will downshift and speed up accordingly. When the accelerator is released, the transmission will upshift.
L1, 2nd gear (low gear)
L1 is called steep grade gear, which is generally used on roads with large slope, and L2 is called gentle grade gear. Generally, when L1 or L2 is in gear, the transmission will limit the gear to work in gear 1 and gear 2, and cannot change to other gears. They can all be called low speed gears.
S gear (sport gear)
Some models will be equipped with S gear, that is, sports gear. After shifting to the sport gear, the transmission will delay the timing of upshifting to obtain higher revolutions, so that the power becomes more abundant, but the relative fuel consumption will also be increased accordingly.
M gear (manual gear)
The manual mode usually appears on the vehicle with manual and automatic integration. When shifting to M gear, the driver can follow his own needs to shift, and shift up and down by pushing "+" and "-" or using the paddle.
